I am so comforted by prayer. On the other hand, the bible can be overwhelming and often incomprehensible. I decided to save a few words from each of the Eastern Orthodox daily readings last week, all words Jesus said. A little inkling in my head identified this task as possibly helpful, beneficial, worth posting about. So here it goes.
“he who endures to the end will be saved”. Mark 13:9-13
“false prophets will arise and show signs and wonders”. Mark 13:14-23
“from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven” Mark 13:24-31
And Jesus Said
“my words will not pass away”. Mark 13:31-37: 14:1-2
“She has done what she could” Mark 14:3-9 (Interesting that over the top devotion, is good! I ponder, am I doing all that I can)
“He who has ears let him hear.” Luke 20:46-47; 21:1-4
…your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found. Luke 15:11-32
This last one is Jesus’s parable of the Prodigal Son. I love the lesson Father gave in church to remind us to, in every moment, be forgiving and accepting as did the Father, as Jesus said, in the parable. More prayer is better and less worry works for me, as I hope for better communion in these last decades.
