HOly Basil!!!!!! The scent! The profuse viability! What is the word for that. It GROWS. Harvest harvest harvest…. “ahem….sorry” it says, “but I will just grow more”. Try to nip and cut before a stem goes to bloom…. just …. not …. possible. Bloom here there bloom everywhere, everywhere a bloom bloom. Fine. Just add the blooms to my tea, to dry, to nibble on. Take and tuck a cutting under my shirt collar and rub it every now and then to release some scent. Now that’s aromatherapy!
Thank you my sweet honeybee (daughter) for getting seeds to sprout and sharing this plant with me. Tulsi (that is Latin I guess for Holy Basil) is a perfect example of “abundance”. There is a word for that that I cannot think of. This is why I need to write, me brain doth wither.
Growth, exuberance, vitality, and fecundity ……. yep ….. wow…. yep. There are different varieties of Tulsi says my honeybee. I am fine with this one. Daily in my tea for nutritional benefit, fresh or dried, along with nettles and a few other herbs, I receive your benefits. Thank you! Every time I harvest it the scent lingers. It is intoxicating. Really all the basils are …. yummy. But I had no idea that regular and Thai basil had a holy sister.

Wait, I never took a picture this whole summer of my huge patch (just four plants that grew and grew) filled with spikes of beautiful blooms? Going to seed now at the end of October, it is still beautiful and as I snap a pic, I also snap a few leaves to eat.
There are 3 types of Tulsi. Two are varieties of O. tenuifolium, Rama Tulsi (green leaves) and Krishna Tulsi (purple leaves). The third, Vana Tulsi, is the wild species O. gratissimum. Honeybee quotes to me and then informs me, “We grow Rama“. I say use my link (or I can mail you some) once and you will have seeds and plants, and its wellness forever.
Today is going to be a fun day! Even though it is overcast, it is all about perspective. Tennis got cancelled but an adventure awaits me. Gray skies send me looking for yellows and oranges and light pinks. Thank you God for all of the natural ways to enjoy daily living. AMEN
