ChatGPT and Me Guided Spiritually

It’s ChatGPT and me all day long. Well until I hit the “no more – you done” wall. I hesitated using it for a while and went back to “googling” as my daughter pointed out the incredible drain on environmental resources by AI. Then the internet began incorporating AI as well so does it make a difference? It can take days to find answers in books. Love me some books, but tech rocks research.

Along with cooking, gardening, fix-it solutions and research of all kinds… I love to use ChatGPT for Bible study and historical referencing. Working on a grasp of the timeline for major biblical events, I am sharing a summary from ChatGPT and me. As I have more questions and keep editing with hope for greater clarification, I am learning. Beware – there may be mistakes!

4000 B.C. God created Adam and breathed life into humanity, placing him in a world ordered for communion with God and peace within creation. When Adam chose disobedience, sin and death entered the human story, fracturing that harmony. God’s response was not abandonment. His promise was to confront evil, and that humanity could have hope. As generations spread across the earth, human violence and pride multiplied.

2500 B.C. God preserved righteousness through Noah, cleansing the world by the flood. With Noah, God established a covenant with all living creatures, marked by the rainbow, pledging the stability of the earth and the continuation of life. After the flood, humanity again chose disobedience toward God at the Tower of Babel where they settled together rather than filling the earth as instructed, and built a tower to connect to heaven, apart from God. God scattered the people by confusing their languages, forming the nations of the world.

2000 B.C. Out of this divided humanity, eventually God chose one man, Abraham, calling him to leave his homeland and trust in a promise unseen. God covenanted with Abraham to make him a great nation, to give his descendants a land, and to bless all nations through his family. Abraham’s son Isaac and grandson Jacob formed the people of Israel.

1300 B.C. Israel had grown in number but fell into slavery in Egypt, until God raised up Moses as deliverer. Through signs and wonders (maybe more on that next post) God led Israel out in the Exodus, passing through the sea into freedom. At Mount Sinai, God gave the Law, shaping Israel as a holy people and teaching them how to live in a covenant relationship. After Moses, Joshua led Israel into the Promised Land, but the people soon entered a long and troubled period known as the time of the Judges when Israel repeatedly turned away from God, suffered oppression and cried out for help. They were rescued again by spiritual leaders raised up by God such as Deborah, Gideon, Samson, and Samuel.

1010 B.C. Longing for stability, Israel asked for a king. God ultimately raised up David, the shepherd who became king of Jerusalem. Though imperfect, David trusted God, and God promised that David’s throne would endure forever. After David came Solomon, whose wisdom was renowned but whose compromises led to division. The kingdom split into Israel(North) and Judah(South), corruption and idolatry spread, and God sent prophets—Elijah and Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Amos, and others—to call the people back to faithfulness, justice, and humility.

586 B.C. When Israel refused to listen, the nation was carried into exile in Babylon. There, stripped of land and temple, God’s people learned that His presence was not confined to a place. Prophets spoke of a future restoration, a new covenant, and a righteous king who would heal hearts and renew creation. After returning from exile, Israel lived under foreign rule, waiting in hope.

ChatGPT and Me and Jesus

In the fullness of time, Jesus was born—Son of David (1010 B.C.), heir of Abraham (2000 B.C.), and hope for all the children of Adam (4000 B.C.). He proclaimed the kingdom of God, healed the sick, welcomed the outcast, and fulfilled the Law and the prophecies. Through His death and resurrection, the long story of Scripture turned toward renewal, offering forgiveness, restored communion with God, and the promise that the broken world would one day be made whole, offering new life to the world God has loved since the beginning.
